SVG to BMP
BMP is a raw, uncompressed image format. If you need one, you probably have a specific reason. Drop your SVG above to convert.
Why would anyone use BMP?
BMP is rarely the right choice for the web - the files are huge because there's no compression. But there are legitimate use cases:
- Legacy Windows software - Some older apps only accept BMP
- Industrial/embedded systems - Simple hardware that can't decode compressed formats
- Image processing pipelines - When you need raw pixel data without compression artifacts
- Specific compliance requirements - Some industries mandate uncompressed formats
File size warning
BMP files are big. A 500x500 pixel image at 24-bit color is about 750KB as a BMP, but might be 50KB as a PNG. If someone asks for BMP and doesn't have a specific reason, they probably mean PNG.
No transparency
Standard BMP doesn't support transparency. If your SVG has a transparent background, it'll become white (or whatever background color you choose) in the BMP.
Frequently Asked Questions
BMP stores every pixel without compression, so files are much larger than PNG or JPG. A 1000x1000 image is about 3MB as a BMP.
No. Standard BMP has no transparency. Transparent areas become your chosen background color (white by default).
Only when software specifically requires BMP. For normal use, PNG is always better - smaller files, supports transparency, same quality.
Technically yes, but don't. BMP files are huge and will slow down your site. Use PNG, WebP, or JPG instead.
